Our debut-CD “Phasma” is an exploration of contemporary repertoire for guitar quartet, and examines the diversity of the classical guitar in order to show what can be achieved with four instruments of the same kind. Some of the works are modern arrangements of classical compositions, while others are completely experimental. Each piece presents the full spectrum of at least one musical parameter such as dynamics, timbre, or rhythmical complexity.
Routes is the culmination of the Cologne Guitar Quartet’s journey through various musical traditions and styles 一 the outcome of the creative process through which our musical language is shaped.
A few special highlights of the CD are two arrangements of Sephardic and Indian traditional songs: Morenica, sung by the quartet, and Tum na jane, sung by the Pakistani singer Suhaib Ehsan.
